Being kind to yourself
We all know the TV series “Orange is the New Black”. Since it aired the first time on screens, a few iterations of the name have seen the life. When we look at our lives, one thing that is becoming more and more popular is self-care or kindness to yourself. In that regard, you can say Self-care is the New Cool. It doesn’t matter how old you are, or what is going on, being kind to yourself is so important in your daily life. The same can be said for women who are transitioning through midlife. Here are five ways to be kind to yourself in Midlife.
- Uplift yourself
- Take care of yourself
- Love yourself
- Validate yourself
- Reward yourself
Uplift Yourself
From keeping a record of good things (a positivity jar, perhaps) to moving and taking time out, there are many ways to uplift yourself every day. Sunshine is a great way to improve your mood and making you feel better. Spending ten minutes per day outside will instantly make you feel uplifted.
Take Care of Yourself
There are numerous ways to take care of yourself. It’s not only things like being creative, but also ordinary things like going to the dentist, or looking after your eyes. While it’s important to look after your spiritual side, it’s also important to look after your physical well-being.
Love Yourself
Nobody is perfect, even if we want to think there are a few perfect people in the world. To love yourself completely is to look at your flaws and weaknesses and accept yourself and love yourself boots and all.
Validate Yourself
Affirmations each and every day will help to validate yourself, and when you have a weak moment, say a few affirmations again. There are numerous videos on YouTube with daily affirmations to help you in this.
Reward Yourself
From small things like giving yourself a pat on the back, to big things like buying that coveted handbag, it’s important to reward and celebrate yourself. We need acknowledgement and we are our best cheerleaders.
Trying these simple things in your life while you’re transitioning through the muddy waters of midlife will go a long way towards helping you have a smoother ride.
